Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian professional badminton player. She is the first Indian to become the Badminton World Champion and only the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games. Deepika Kumari Mahato is an Indian professional archer. Currently ranked the World No. 1, she completes in the event of archery. She won a gold medal in the 2010 Commonwealth games in the women’s individual recurve event. She also won a gold medal in the same competition in the women’s team recurve event along with Dola Banerjee and Bombayala Devi. Tokyo Olympics 2020

The Tokyo Games were thrown open with a  grand opening ceremony in Tokyo’s Olympic Stadium on Friday night. Boxing great MC Mary Kom and Indian hockey team skipper Manpreet Singh lead the Indian contingent in the athletes parade at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo. India had 19 of their athletes represent the country in the opening ceremony. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 began on 23 July 2021 and ends on 8 August 2021.
