Deepotsav 2022: Ayodhya enters Guinness Book of World Records by lighting up over 17 lakh diyas
Ayodhya created a new Guinness World Record for the ‘largest display of oil lamps’ after lighting over 17 lakh earthen lamps as a part of Deepotsav 2022 celebrations. The city was lit with oil lamps, laser exhibitions, and fireworks creating a spectacular virtual delight. The grand event was held on the occasion of ‘Choti Diwali’ at Ram Ki Paidi on the banks of the reversed Saryu River.Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, which was the capital of the Kosala kingdom of Maharaj Dashrath – the father of Lord Ram – was decorated ahead of Diwali 2022 like never ever in centuries. As more than 17 lakhs earthen diyas lit up, presenting a mesmerizing view on the banks of the Saryu River at Ayodhya, it seemed like heaven on earth.
Prime Minster Narendra Modi launched the historic Deepotsav celebrations on Sunday, on the eve of the festival of Diwali. The earthen lamps were lit one by one with the chanting of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as soon as the PM launched the festival. The reflection of the diyas in the Saryu River provided a breathtaking view while the laser show lit up the skies.
As the representatives of the Guinness Book of Records announced the establishment of the record, the entire city of Ayodhya echoed with the chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The Chief Minister received the certificate, and the Prime Minister congratulated him on the achievement.
